[ She hums in answer, popping another grape into her mouth as Hilda answers her. She may be acting pragmatic in the face of everything that's happening, but truth be told it's really the only thing she feels she can do. If she ties herself in knots with worries and concerns, then she'll never be able to get anything done. Regardless of anything, she has to keep moving. She knows that, at the very least. ]
June... that's a while, now.
[ But also not as long as some of the others she's met. She's pondering over that thought when Hilda asks about her previous one, and she looks up with a small smile, chuckling at how easily she's been caught in her own worries. ]
Mm.. I guess I'm wondering a lot of things, you know? Probably things way too big to even start to worry about right now. Like what purpose we have here, what sort of people need or want us here. Are we an experiment? Is the sex to generate some sort of energy...?
[ Coming from someone so seemingly carefree, the questions are probably surprising. Her smile is apologetic. ]
[ Is that an opportunity for Hilda to be dramatic? Her head lolls glumly to the side, punctuating her sentence with another grape. ]
It's been so long, Aerith.
[ There is at least one way out of this place that has been offered to them: play the games and collect cards. And while it sounds like an easy enough premise Hilda has so rarely done well with doing what she's told - especially if she doesn't want to do it in the first place.
When Aerith says what's on her mind she can't help but pause thoughtfully seeming to give it a really good, long thought about what she's said. ]
No! Not at all. I do wonder sometimes if it's all just an experiment - really weird things happen here. Not to mention, people that they bring here have powers and magic and I know plenty of people in Fodlan who would probably be fascinated by that kind of thing. But I never thought about us being here to generate energy for them.
[ After another moment she gives her what is probably a bit of a self-deprecating smile. ]
I try not to think about it too much to be honest. It's more than my little brain can handle. And it's difficult enough some days waking up and wondering what's going to happen.
[ She can't help but feel a little saddened at the other woman's reaction, not really recognizing that it's as dramatic as it is. She's been lucky enough to find herself with some people she knows here, but there are still people she missesβand she misses Gaia itself, too. The idea of being here for even a few months seems hard, let alone the almost year Hilda has spent here...
She sighs. She's not sure she likes that the other woman has had the same wonderings as her, either. That makes it's more possible an option than if it were just her own paranoia, and...
Aerith shakes her head. Breathes out. Offers the other woman a small smile of her own. ]
I kinda agree. It seesm like a lot to worry about. And when you have to wake up each day not knowing what's next, maybe it's just too hard to worry about all those things. I dunno... I haven't been here long enough.
[ She shrugs, and eats another grape for herself too. Maybe it'll get easier? She likes to think soβbut it's hard to say, isn't it. ]
Is every day like the last few have been? New things all the time? Or is it more of a ... staggered kinda thing?
[ What she had hoped would lighten the mood doesn't in fact, and it has a small crease form between her brows that is more worry than anything else. Maybe humor wasn't always the right answer or thing to fall back on. Particularly when you were a fresh arrival to a place that tended to enjoy having its way with them for no other apparent reason aside from enjoyment. ]
Thankfully it's more staggered. Though I suppose there's a kind of cadence to their games. There's always something going on every other month - or at least that's what it feels like. And sometimes we get new guests like you checking in and there's always something to welcome them in too.
[ Instead of reaching for another grape however she goes to lightly rest a hand on Aerith's in what he hopes is a reassuring way. ]
I promise it does start to get a little easier. I don't know if I can say better but I think most people here have settled into a rhythm. I feel like you will too. And if you want, I'd be more than happy to be a familiar face to kill some time with. I'm not just going to abandon my bed mate after all.
that's okay! I'm on hiatus for April, hence my slow β₯
[ Aerith is quiet as Hilda talks, and then she smiles when the other places a gentle hand on hers. She offers a small nod, tooβmaybe the joke didn't improve the mood to a huge degree, but what the other woman has said has served to reassure her, and perhaps that's the most important thing of all.
(Thoughβis it selfish to hope, even if it's just a little, that she sees some of her loved ones as people continue to check in?)
At the very least... ]
I'm sure I'll find my own rhythm in time, you're right. And... until then, I definitely wouldn't say no to the company sometimes. I feel like there's so much to learn about this place, and having a friend who's been here for a while... I mean, I think it's just a smart choice, you know? [ A laugh, bright and warm. ] Besides, more importantly, I think that we can be good friends, you and I.
don't worry about the slow, lovely! if you wanna wrap soon or keep going i'm good both ways
[ She'd said that it wouldn't be selfish in the least to wish to see some of her loved ones. Not in the least. But Hilda at least hopes that if anyone she does know arrives here that their circumstances are better than hers.
But it's situations like these that make Hilda's own promise to herself not to become too involved and too attached difficult. If she worries about her own resolve however, it doesn't show. She's too focused on ensuring that Aerith has at least one anchor in this place of chaos. ]
You don't strike me as the kind of person that will just sit there and mope about it for too long.
[ And she means that as a compliment. The bright smile she gives her dims some only because her eyes seem to search her as if looking for something. ]
You're feeling okay, right? The food hasn't made you feel odd in any way?
β₯ I mean, why wrap soon when you've given such a lovely opening for something~
[ Aerith's eyes crinkle with a warm smile. It's true that she's unlikely to dwell on the whole thing for too long. As worried as she is, she also knows that there's no point just sitting around and waiting to be rescued. She'll figure things out so long as she tries.
Perhaps she'd comment on that too, if Hilda's question didn't come and make her tilt her head in thought. Foolish of her, perhaps, to have indulged so quickly in breakfastβshe's experienced what the food here can do already in her short time here, but she was hungry enough to not think too much about it.
Still, a quick mental check-in seems to be okay: nothing feels too weird outside of the hangover, nothing seems horribly out of sortsβ
Or so she thinks, but Hilda's eyes searching her so clearly may find the hint of something starting in her eyes, something clouded and distant that hasn't even fully reached Aerith's awareness yet.
[ The strange, clouded look in Aerith's eyes should be a signal that things are probably not "okay" in the sense of what Hilda means, which is remaining totally normal without any sort of resort tampering involved. But the effects of whatever it was they had eaten starts to curl around her too making her notice just how pretty Aerith's eyes are and the way they sparkle against her complexion and hair. Warmth creeps up the back of her neck but she tries her best to pay it little mind.
A stray piece of it catches her attention and without thinking she brushes it back back behind Aerith's ear. ]
I think so. And if that's the case maybe we can get dressed and I can help you find your room. [ Her gaze flits to the since forgotten hangover kit and her mind suddenly begins to trail towards what she's come to dub the "resort brain". The picture of innocence, she nods towards the bag. ] Was there anything else that was useful?
[ Aerith smiles, tilting her head without thought into that gentle touch as Hilda's fingers graze against her, tucking her hair back behind her ear. And maybe it's a little odd to be so affectionate with someone so new to her, but she doesn't really mind. She smiles, and nods. ]
Mm, finding my room sounds like a good ideaβ
[ And yet, the other asking about the bag draws her own attention right to it, specifically to the pink (how fitting) double-ended dildo sitting amongst the medicines and chocolates. She clears her throat, reaching into the bag again and, this time, surfacing with that, and of course with the box of bon bons. ]
I guess that depends~ Would you say these are useful to you?
[ As a side note, Aerith is suddenly aware all over again of the fact that she's just sitting here in bed with another person, completely and entirely naked. ]
[ Hilda would have understood if it felt too affectionate. Then again, she's met few people as tactile as her even in a place like this. And she would have happily left it there should the suggestion she had softly placed in front of her hadn't landed. If they stayed in here too long it was entirely likely that a staff member would have asked them to leave.
But when something pink and shiny and definitely familiar in the sense that she had seen and used a dildo before, her eyes seem to darken with a hunger. She hums as if deciding between the two before gently taking the box of bon bons from her new acquaintance and placing it aside before curling her hand around Aerith's, drawing herself closer in the same breath. Her bare knee bumps up against Aerith's beneath the sheets. ]
This might be more useful right now. But only if you want to. [ Her gaze flits from the toy and back towards her. ] Have you used one before?
[ For someone who just said she's sure she's unaffected, there's no excusing the heat that rises to Aerith's cheeks when she sees the toy, the way that she bites her lip in anticipation. She leans in to Hilda as she's tugged closer, until they're a little too close, and there's warmth in her cheeks but no real embarrassment in her as she shakes her head in answer, in admission. ]
I've never.
[ The truth is that until she arrived here, she was a virgin, highly inexperienced and still very much learning as she goes. Nor has she ever really considered if she's attracted to womenβalthough right now at least, the answer is very much a "yes".
Her tongue darts out over her lips. ]
But I'm willing to learn, if you don't mind guiding me along the way~.
