[ She hears the shift of his voice, the professionalism slipping back into his tone even as he remains gentle, and she laughs, a soft and sweet sound on her lips as she turns into him, rests her head against his shoulder in that same fond way, making a Face at him as if to gently scold. ]
C'mon, Rude. Really? That's how you're gonna talk to me after that?
[ She shakes her head. ]
Listen~ I'm not saying you have to act all romantic or anything, but... I mean, you know things are gonna be a little different now, right?
[He shakes his head, almost blushing when he thinks she's serious, but then instantly realizes that she's teasing him back for starting it in the first place. It's too easy to lean against her hair when she rests her head on his shoulder. Far too easy to feel comfortable together like maybe this whole time they could have been doing this instead of fighting.
Rude quickly dismisses the thought. While it was thoroughly enjoyable, it's unfair to think that way when he's not sure if or when they'll be back home and back on their opposite sides of conflicts neither of them has any say in. How Rufus runs his company is out of Rude's hands, and Aerith and her friends certainly didn't ask for Sephiroth to be doing whatever it is that he's up to.]
Different feels like an understatement, but I think I prefer it different than before. [Rude could get up and leave, but instead he stays close, just holding her for a while.]
[ His admission is an interesting one, and powerful. She's quiet for a moment before she nods. The truth is, she prefers it this way too. Maybe the main positive out of this whole thing is that, when they get home, they'll understand one another better. It doesn't mean they need to be like this, but... at least they're not fighting one another, right now. ]
Mm. I think I prefer it too. I don't like fighting with you. [ A pause, before she adds: ] With any of you.
[ But she's also adult enough now to understand. As long as he's with Shinra, and as long as she's who she is, some sort of fight is, unfortunately, inevitable. ]
I know we have to get out of here and look around. But... let's just stay like this for a little while first, okay?
